TCIS Pre-Conference Training: Hazardous Materials General Awareness and Familiarization

As part of the upcoming 1st Annual Transportation Critical Infrastructure Symposium (TCIS), the Institute for Homeland Security will offer a free pre-conference Hazardous Materials General Awareness and Familiarization Training on May 4, 2026. The symposium itself will take place on May 5, 2026, at the Walker Education Center in Huntsville, Texas, and is hosted by the Institute for Homeland Security. The pre-conference training fulfills the federal requirements under 49 CFR Part 172, Subpart H and is designed for professionals whose work affects the safe transportation of hazardous materials across road, rail, and maritime systems. This session will emphasize hazard recognition, regulatory compliance, use of the Hazardous Materials Table (49 CFR 172.101), shipping paper accuracy, placarding, segregation, packaging authorizations, safety responsibilities, and security awareness.
