What Does the Department of Homeland Security Say About the Sector?

Definition: The Water and Wastewater Systems Sector provides safe drinking water and wastewater treatment to millions of Americans through over 150,000 public water systems and facilities processing approximately 34 billion gallons of wastewater daily. These services are so vital that their disruption would have a debilitating effect on national security, economic security, and public health.

Prepare the current and future workforce to protect the resilience and business continuity of the sector by providing two TCEQ approved resiliency continuing education courses for water and wastewater operators.

Supply and Awareness

The Texas Water Network Explorer project is a product of a trusted partnership among stakeholders to provide awareness on the complexity of water and the need to understand how water works in Texas.  

Research

Promote collaboration with trusted partners in identifying gaps and providing research solutions on issues of critical importance to the sector. By fostering partnerships, the sector can better anticipate vulnerabilities and implement coordinated strategies to protect essential water services.
