
Dr. Peter Lehmann
Dr. Peter Lehmann is an Associate Professor in the Department of Criminal Justice and Criminology at Sam Houston State University. He received a B.A. in sociology from Furman University and his M.S. and Ph.D. in criminology from Florida State University. His research focuses on theories of crime and delinquency, criminal court sentencing, juvenile justice system interventions, punitive discipline in schools, and public opinion on issues of crime and criminal justice policy. Building on his scholarship on decision-making among criminal justice actors, his work for the Institute for Homeland Security has centered on the role of “human factors” and cognitive biases in critical infrastructure protection. He has published over 50 academic articles and book chapters, and he is the recipient of awards for his research from the American Society of Criminology, the Academy of Criminal Justice Sciences, and the Midwestern Criminal Justice Association.

Alexander B. Kinney, Ph.D., is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Sociology at Oberlin College. His scholarly research analyzes how companies generate social approval for stigmatized products and services. He also has an applied research focus on organizational decision making under pressure. His work has been published in Social Problems, Crime & Delinquency, and Law & Policy, among other journals.
